Red Flag warning issued for most of central Ind.

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning Thursday for several counties in central Indiana, Including Delaware County. The issue is in effect until 8 p.m.

Strong and dry winds from the southwest are expected to continue this afternoon and evening, with relative humidity falling to critical fire weather levels.

The combination of warmer temperature and low relative humidity will create explosive fire growth potential. It is recommended for people to not burn trash or have recreational fires during red flag issues, captain Bret Granger from the Muncie Fire Department said.

Hi temperatures will continue for the rest of the day but will drop to a high in the lower 70s Friday, with a 70 percent chance of thunderstorms, according to the NWS.

Dry weather is expected to continue after Friday along with a drop in temperature. Saturday and Sunday are expected to have a low temperature in the higher 50s. Temperature should rise again, reaching high in the lower 60s Monday, according to the NWS.
