No. 11 Loyola University lost its chance to clinch its first regular season conference title in more than five years.
No. 13 Ohio State University swept Loyola on Friday in Columbus to move 0.5 matches behind the first place Ramblers in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association and take control of the tiebreaker.
In the victory outside attacker Shawn Sangery had a match-high 17 kills as Ohio State out-hit Loyola .352 to .152.
Ohio State (17-7, 9-1 MIVA) can now clinch a MIVA regular season championships with wins against Lewis University and No. 15 Ball State University in its final two conference matches. This would be the Buckeyes fourth consecutive regular season title.
Loyola (18-4, 10-1 MIVA) would need to defeat Ball State in its final conference regular season match next week and have Ohio State lose a match to win the MIVA title.
