Free food and live music set the scene of the Are you Afraid of the Dark? Community Picnic on Friday night at University Green.
The picnic included pizza, drinks and desserts, which were all provided by the Greek Week Steering Committee with the help of the Student Government Association.
Carson Lance, director of the Greek Week Steering Committee, said they were thankful SGA sponsored the event.
"We would not have been able to do it with out SGA because of them we were able to buy 140 pizzas for everyone," Lance said.
As members of Greek life waited in line for dinner, local band Dreams of University began setting up. Once dusk arrived, they began playing for the growing crowd.
While everyone ate and listened to the live music, steering committee members judged the potluck dessert competition, which required each team to share a dessert with everyone at the picnic.
With Greek Week lasting only a few more days, all chapters were out celebrating the success and achievements of the community.
Ian Stoeckley, FIJI fraternity liaison for Greek Week, said the picnic was a great way to show the unity throughout the greek life on campus.
"Other events in the week are about competition, at the picnic we could all come together with different chapters on campus to just hang out," he said.
Paul Desmond, president of the Interfraternity Council, said community is a huge part of greek life, to show unity and support for their own chapter and the whole community is the biggest goal.
Amy Payne, director of philanthropy for Alpha Phi sorority, said the picnic reminded her how important it was to be Greek.
"People may get the wrong impression of greek life and here we get to really show what were about, unity," she said.
