Voter registration deadline nears for Ind. primary

INDIANAPOLIS — The voter registration deadline is nearing for those who want to cast ballots in Indiana's May 4 primary.

Voters must submit registration forms to their county election offices by the April 5 deadline. That includes new voters and those who have moved or changed their names.

Election officials say early voting also will begin April 5.

Republican and Democratic candidates for several federal, state and local offices will be decided in the primaries, along with numerous nonpartisan school board seats.

The most prominent race on the May ballot is for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination. The candidates include former Sen. Dan Coats, former Congressman John Hostettler and state Sen. Marlin Stutzman.
