VOLLEYBALL: Former Ball State standout Chamberlain to coach at Kansas

A former all-conference Ball State University player will coach in the Big 12 next season.

Todd Chamberlain was hired Friday by Kansas University to be an assistant coach on its women's volleyball team.

Chamberlain played four seasons for the Ball State men's volleyball team and was twice named to an All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association team. The outside attacker also finished his college career with 929 kills -- third most in Ball State history during the rally scoring era.

After graduating at the end of the 2009 season, Chamberlain was a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Kentucky last season. The Wildcats finished the season ranked in the top 25 coaches poll and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

Chamberlain will now work along side Ray Bechard, who is entering his 12th season as the Jayhawks' head coach.

Kansas had its first winning record in five years last season at 16-14. The Jayhawks have not advanced to the NCAA Tournament since 2005.
