Style your sole with TOMS

Motini's hosts personalization party

On Friday, Motini's in the Village will host the TOMS Style Your Sole event. Those who have registered will receive shoes to decorate and donate to someone in need.

"This model creates a sustainable circle, by where with your purchase you are able to directly help someone in need," Ball State University TOMS campus representative Danielle Reed said. "For each pair of shoes purchased, a pair is given to a child in need. Since that child has a pair of shoes, they will be protected from cuts and bruises, but also hookworms and other diseases. Most of all, these children will now be able to go to school."

The deadline for ordering shoes to decorate was March 5, but Style Your Sole attendees can still enjoy live music and drinks at the local jazz bar. Art supplies will be provided to those who have purchased shoes. Attendees without a pair of TOMS shoes will receive a discount coupon to purchase a pair online.

TOMS owner Blake Mycoskie, who visited Ball State last week, founded the company in 2006. The footwear company gained popularity through its charitable business motto: "With every pair you purchase, TOMS will gave a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One." Since 2006, nearly 400,000 shoes have been given away.

The TOMS Official One Day Without Shoes is April 8. On this day, people are encouraged to go one day without shoes.
