Students planning on drinking and driving from Muncie Gras or anywhere Saturday night will have sobriety check points to deal with.
As part of Operation Pull Over Blitz 62, the Indiana State Police Redkey District will set up check points during late hours Saturday and the early hours of Sunday, according to a press release. It is an effort to reduce alcohol-related crashes. Officers also will patrol for other alcohol violations.
When entering a check point, officers encourage drivers to have their licenses and registrations ready to reduce delay times.
State police urge people to take the following precautions:
-Plan ahead and always designate a sober driver before consuming alcohol.
-Don't get behind the wheel of your vehicle if you've been out drinking.
-If you are impaired, call a taxi or get a sober friend or family member to come and get you.
-Remember – "Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Drunk." Take the keys and never let a friend leave your sight if you think they are about to drive while impaired.
-If you are hosting a party, always offer alcohol-free beverages during the event, and make sure all of your guests leave with a sober driver.
