SGA to host smoking policy awareness week

Two years after the smoking ban passed, the Student Government Association is holding a week of events to educate students about it.

"Recognize the Sign" week will be Monday through Thursday. It will be used to gauge campus opinion on the ban.

"It's for us to gather information on how people feel about the smoking policy so we can look at ways of making it efficient for everyone," Chris Buck, SGA senator, said.

SGA will use the information to make the lives of on-campus smokers easier.

During the week, SGA members will be at the Scramble Light handing out information. They'll also hand out free items at the light.

There will be an open forum 7 p.m. next Thursday in Teachers College Room 100.

"It's a way for us to collect data and answer questions and anything that people are confused about with the policy," Buck said.

March 27 will be spent cleaning up smoking areas around campus.
