Recreation Services is looking for about 40 student workers to fill positions in it's new Outdoor Pursuits program.
The Recreation Center will reopen August 18. Major additions include an Outdoor Pursuits Center, new equipment and a new fitness area.
Stephanie Reinhart, assistant director of Outdoor Pursuits, said the program will offer resources that are not otherwise available around Muncie, including an indoor climbing wall and outdoor rental equipment.
Outdoor Pursuits plans to host fall and spring trips as well as a ski trip over winter break, and all services will be available for free or at a low cost. For example, renting shoes for the climbing wall will cost around $5, and the activity itself is free.
Reinhart said a round table event was held in February where about 30 students, faculty, staff, and community members voiced their opinions for services that might be included through the program.
Outdoor Pursuits is looking for students to work as climbing wall assistants and to issue equipment rentals.
