Ball State students design official university clothing accessories

Students from Ball State University's fashion design program have worked to design official clothing items for the university.

They have developed designs for an official Ball State men's necktie and pocket square, as well as women's scarf and muffler.

President Jo Ann Gora asked the fashion design program to have students design the accessories about two months ago.

To choose the design, 43 students participated in a contest that narrowed down to the top five designs, instructor of family and consumer sciences Pamela Stigall said.

Stigall said the program is working with students to create tote bags, blankets and jewelry to sell to students in the future.

Gora will select the official Ball State accessories next week. The design of the Ball State official accessories has been an annual process, Stigall said.

Between 100 and 500 of each of the accessories are ordered each year, and Gora passes them out to university officials and guests.
