WOMEN'S TENNIS: Ball State defeats UW-Milwaukee to earn third sweep in last four matches

Cardinals return to action today looking to equal last season's win total

The Ball State University women's tennis team continued its streak of success Saturday with a 7-0 sweep of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Junior Hayley Hall led the charge with a two-set victory, 6-2, 6-0, in the No. 1 singles match as all Ball State singles players won in straight sets. The closest UW-Milwaukee got to forcing a third set was at the No. 2 singles spot, as sophomore Dena Boulieris won 6-3, 7-5.

The doubles teams were also successful, finishing 3-0 on the day and capturing the doubles point to begin the match. The three doubles duos combined to win by a score of 24-11.

Saturday's win increased the team's record to 4-1 to open the season. Following the match, the team wasn't shy about expressing their excitement for the rest of the season.

"Everybody is really playing well right now," Hall said. "We're finally steering clear of injuries, and we're really motivated to do great from here on out."

Ball State returns to the courts at 1 p.m. today for a match against Morehead State University at the Muncie Northwest YMCA Tennis Center. A win for the Cardinals, and they will equal last season's win total (five) with at least 15 matches left in the Spring season.
