BASKETBALL: Ball State plays host to televised doubleheader at Worthen Arena

Men's team plays Akron at noon while women's team follows with Bowling Green

Two distinctly different Ball State University basketball teams will be featured in a televised doubleheader today at Worthen Arena.

The Ball State men's team comes in as the hottest team in the Mid-American Conference, winning a season-high four games in a row -- all four against the MAC East. The Cardinals host reigning MAC Tournament champions University of Akron at noon. Check out our preview to the right.

The Ball State's women's team, however, is on the opposite end of the spectrum. The Cardinals drag into today's game looking to end their five-game losing streak, and the path to ending that skid doesn't get any easier -- MAC leaders and perennial favorites Bowling Green State University visit to take on Ball State immediately following the men's game. Check out our preview to the right to see what Cardinals' coach Kelly Packard is trying to do to solve her team's problems.

Today's games are being telecast regionally by Fox Sports Net. The last time the channel hosted a men's-women's Ball State basketball double-header was Jan. 17, when the Cardinals swept the University of Toledo; the men's team won 71-43, while the women's team squeaked by with a 73-69 victory.
