The Ball State University men's basketball team met its offensive struggles coming into Saturday's game against the University of Toledo and countered with an up-tempo attack as the shots finally began to fall for the Cardinals.
The result was 50 percent shooting from the field from Ball State, including eight 3-pointers, in the Cardinals' 71-43 defeat of the Rockets in front of 3,295 fans at Worthen Arena.
Leading the way for Ball State (7-8, 1-2 Mid-American Conference) was freshman guard Jauwan Scaife and senior forward Terrence Watson. Scaife had a game- and career-high 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the 3-point line, while Watson had a career-high 17 points and made it a double-double with a game-best 10 rebounds.
For Toledo (3-14, 0-3 MAC), guards Jake Barnett and Malcolm Griffin each had 12 points.
The 28-point deficit is the largest of the Billy Taylor era.
