Fur Ball to raise money for ARF

The recent wave of support for the Animal Rescue Fund continues tonight as members of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority will host the Fur Ball.

ESA president Wendy Carter said the dance will have a disc jockey, games and a raffle with prizes from local businesses. The event is open to all students. Carter said students can wear whatever clothing they would like, but animal print is preferred as long as it is not real fur. The dance is tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building, Room 217.

After the sorority heard about the possible closing of the Muncie Animal Shelter, it decided to help out ARF in case it needed to take in animals from the shelter. The shelter ended up not closing, but after learning more about ARF, the sorority decided to volunteer at the facility and help raise funds for it.

'Holding the Fur Ball provides a way for college students to have fun while raising money for a great cause,' Carter said. 'ESA members, like many other students, really believe in ARF's cause, and we want to do all we can to help. Any money or needed items donated to ARF will help save lives of homeless dogs and cats.'

For admittance to the dance, students are asked to bring one donated item that is needed at ARF, such as blankets, cat and dog toys, paper towels, paper plates, wet dog and cat food and cleaning supplies such as bleach. Students can be also be admitted into the dance for a $2 fee.

Carter said the goal is to raise at least $300 and to inform all attendees of ARF and its mission.
