Free legal consultations Monday

Students who are in legal trouble or are engaged in legal battles have an opportunity to get advice from a lawyer.

On top of Student Legal Services on campus, the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indiana Pro Bono Commission will sponsor Talk to a Lawyer Today on Monday, according to a press release.

The statewide program has a spot in Muncie at the Marion Hunt Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 200 attorneys around the state will be giving free 10- to 15-minute consultations to people who otherwise couldn't afford legal advise.

The program, established in 2002, is expected to see the most participants ever because all 14 pro bono districts in Indiana are participating this year.

In addition to more than 30 walk-in sites across the state, a hotline will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1-800-266-2581.
