The First Thursday art gallery celebration for December at the Art and Soul by Phoebe Gallery is set to get the downtown art scene into the holiday spirit, owner Phoebe Wantz said.
The gallery will present its new art Christmas Show from 5 to 9 p.m. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will arrive at the gallery at 7 p.m.
Carolers from Muncie Civic Theatre will greet guests to the gallery with holiday songs, and hot chocolate and cookies from Little Daddy's and candy canes for children will be served inside.
Featured artist Thaddeus DuBois's paintings, leather purses and multimedia sculptures will be featured among the work of 30 other artists. DuBois is first Indiana showing as this month's featured artist.
Ball State University art student Shawn Verble will also have pottery on display, Wantz said.
Wantz encourages others to participate in downtown art events because they're a good opportunity to see good art.
"And besides, [students] want to tell Santa what they want for Christmas, don't they?" she said.
The gallery is located at 409 S. Walnut St. and will debut its next art show on Dec. 28.
