Heorot to host sideshow acts

Who
Strange and Deranged, the showcase group
The group, which is from Austin, Texas, is on its first tour since it was formed.
Jackie Molen, a group member, said everyone in the group has experience from other shows they performed at.
"We were all from different shows, we were all roommates and we just decided to start up our own group," she said.

What
Strange and Deranged's showcase will feature stunts from sword swallowing to electricity experimentation.
The group has performed in Missouri, Arizona and Ohio. They performed this year at the Horror Hounds magazine convention in Cincinnati.
Molen said so far, the group has done well.
"The crowds have liked it a lot," she said. "There's a lot of audience participation involved."

When
9 p.m. Nov. 27
Although the group is performing during the weekend of Thanksgiving Break for Ball State students, they expect to have a good turnout on Friday.
Loren Foley, promoter of the showcase, said the show is different to what people are used to seeing.
"[The audience] should expect to see a variety of circus shows, they bring the tradition of old sideshow acts," he said. "Human oddities were popular in the early 1900s, not a lot of people get to see that now."

Where
The Heorot in downtown Muncie
Foley said it's good the Heorot is featuring something different from what most bars and restaurants do.
"We expect the public to have a good time, and that they enjoy something different," he said. "It's going to be more than just a band playing."

Cost
Entrance fee is $6
