KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Despite very little output offensively, Ball State University extended its lead at Western Michigan University to 16-10 at the end of the third quarter.
The Cardinals could have made it a two-possession game with an interception return for a touchdown by Sean Baker, but the play was called back on a penalty. Robert Eddins was called for unnecessary roughness after delivering a block on a trailing Bronco.
Ball State settled for Ian McGarvey's third field goal of the night. The junior snuck a 48-yarder above the crossbar to tie his career long.
The interception was the third of the night for the Cardinals and the fourth turnover they forced.
