UPB to host paint balloon fight

Nine teams will face off today at LaFollette Field for University Program Board's annual Student Paint Balloon fight.

The Paint Balloon fight is exactly what it says - groups of students will spend two hours throwing balloons filled with paint, instead of water, at each other from 4 to 6 p.m. at LaFollette Field.

The fight is sponsored by UPB and is aimed at getting students more involved in campus activities. Last year's event took place at Anthony Field but had to be moved due to Ball State's new geothermal project.

UPB Program Director John Steer said the fight is not limited to the nine participating teams. He said he would encourage anyone to join. In order to participate, teams must include a minimum of two women, two men and at least six members.

To reduce clean-up after the event, organizers will lay down tarps on the field and comb the grass picking up balloon remnants. A water truck will also be on the scene to remove any leftover paint.
