SOCCER: Coach says time for team to make move is now

With a 2-4 record in the Mid-American Conference, the Ball State University soccer team is looking at the biggest weekend of its season with games against Ohio University and the University of Akron.

"This is a very big weekend for us. We have to come out competitive," coach Michael Lovett said. "We have a chance to get back to .500 in conference which is huge for us."

The Cardinals 3-game losing streak has dropped the team from being tied for third down to 10th place in the MAC.

"We have been playing inconsistently these past few games. Last weekend I think there was still a hangover from the Toledo game," Lovett said. "We weren't emotionally involved in either game last weekend."

Lovett said he would love for two wins this weekend, but would also take two draws to help his team's confidence.

Freshman goalkeeper Nicole Wood believes two wins this weekend is possible for the Cardinals.

"If we come together this weekend and play as a team it's very possible," Wood said. "We have to remember to play a full 90 minutes each game."

Lovett said his team is confident going into the matches against the Bobcats and the Zips and believes it will be fully focused on the matches.

"I don't expect us to still have a hangover from Toledo," Lovett said. "We regained a lot of confidence this week and I expect us to come out and play well this weekend."
