SOCCER: Cards prepare for weekend roadtrip

Coach increases intensity at practice after last second lost to Toledo

To ensure that there is not a repeat of last Sunday's match against the University of Toledo, coach Michael Lovett is putting his team through a tough week of practices. Senior midfielder Megan Ridley said it is the toughest week of practice she has been through.

"Practice has been very competitive this week," Ridley said. "He is really pushing us, really getting us to be more focused in games."

After the loss to Toledo, the team feels it will give them motivation to come out strong against Central Michigan University and Eastern Michigan University this weekend.

"There will always be some hangover from Sunday's game. It's not often that you lose like that," Ridley said. "But that game has given us motivation to come out strong this weekend."

Ball State University has the opportunity to gain ground this weekend in the Mid-American Conference. The Chippewas and the Eagles are first and second in the MAC, respectively.

Ridley believes that if the team can stay focused on closing out games, it can win.

"We can definitely get two wins this weekend," Ridley said. "If we can focus this weekend and stay motivated, we can bounce back and get two big wins."
