Despite controlling the ball for more than nine minutes in the first quarter, Ohio University only was able to score a field goal against Ball State University.
The Bobcats used a botched punt to their advantage. Despite a fumbled snap, Paul Hershey was able to rush for seven yards a first down. The visitors finished the drive with a 39-yard field goal.
Ball State did not register a first down. Cornerback Jason Pinkston came up with an interception to highlight the Cardinals' first quarter.
