FOOTBALL: Lewis garners MAC West Offensive Player of the Week honors

Setting the Ball State University record with 301 rushing yards Saturday at Eastern Michigan University earned MiQuale Lewis the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week.

Lewis also scored one touchdown in the Cardinals' 29-27 win. The senior broke Earl Taylor's 33-year-old mark of 260 rushing yards.

It is the second time in Lewis' career that he earned the award. He also was recognized after scoring four touchdowns in Ball State's victory at Indiana University last year.

The 301 yards is the 10th highest total in MAC history and the most rushing yards in the Football Bowl Subdivision in a single game this year.

The MAC West Defensive Player of the Week went to Central Michigan University defensive end Larry Knight and the Special Teams Player of the Week was Western Michigan University kick returner Brandon West.

This is the first time Ball State has had a MAC Player of the Week this year.
