Throughout Ball State University's nine-game losing streak, there was a common belief around the program that the biggest problem was the Cardinals simply didn't know how to win.
Apparently, it's going to take a little more than beating Eastern Michigan University for Ball State to find out what victory takes.
Ball State took a 17-12 lead on Ohio University with just under six minutes to play, but after Jeremy Hill caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Tanner Justice on a trick play, he was lost in the moment. Hill appeared to slap the ball back onto the field and was flagged for excessive celebration.
Ohio took advantage of the good field position they received after the 15-yard penalty was assessed on the kickoff. Theo Scott found Terrance McCrae the end zone for a three-yard strike. The Bobcats went for two and converted, giving them a 20-17 lead. The score would stand and Ball State fell to 1-8 this year.
Justice would attempt to lead the Cardinals on a game-winning drive, but it sputtered out at the Bobcats' 40-yard line.
In his second college start, Justice completed five-of-nine passes and threw for his first career touchdown.
With the victory, Ohio improved to 6-3 and is bowl eligible.
