Ypsilanti, Mich. – The running back duo of Cory Sykes and MiQuale Lewis helped put Ball State University in the lead for the first time all day, 29-27 at the end of the third quarter.
Sykes ran six yards for his second touchdown of the day to complete a 93-yard drive, the Cardinals' longest of the year. Five minutes later, Sykes added a 37-yard run to put Ball State in the lead.
Defensive end Robert Eddins blocked an Eastern Michigan University punt, which went out of the end zone for a safety.
The Eagles scored on the first drive of the second half, with DeAnthony White punching it in from 10 yards out, but the hosts couldn't find any more offense.
Sykes has 180 yards on 16 carries and Lewis has 19 carries for 189 yards and a score.
