There were only two drives in the third quarter and Ball State University its count.
The Cardinals took the opening drive of the second half to the Bobcats' five-yard line before they were stopped. Ian McGarvey kicked a 22-yard field goal to give Ball State a 10-9 lead.
But Ohio would answer with an extended drive of their own. With two seconds left in the quarter, quarterback Theo Scott took a timeout believing the play clock was about to run out. Scott then attempted a pass to LaVon Brazill, but was intercepted at the two-yard line by Sean Baker. It was Baker's second interception of the year.
