For the first time in her college career, a member of the Ball State University field hockey team received a conference award.
Midfielder Devanny Kuhn was named the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Kuhn scored a career-high four goals in Ball State's 4-2 conference victory against Missouri State University on Saturday. The sophomore also became the third Cardinal in the last four seasons to have a hat trick in a game.
Prior to this game, Kuhn had one goal this season and never had a multiple-goal game in her college career.
This is the third time a Ball State player has won a weekly conference award this season. Forward Hannah Jones won the award Sept. 1 after scoring three goals in two games, and defender Elizabeth Blaum received the conference honor earlier this month.
With their win during the weekend the Cardinals (4-12, 2-6 in MAC) likely will be the No. 5 seed in the conference tournament, which starts next week. Ball State will finish its regular season with road matches against Ohio University on Friday and Kent State University on Sunday.
