Player of the WeekKaitlan Mitchell, field hockey: the junior midfielder scored two goals - including the eventual game winner - in the Ball State field hockey team's 4-3 win over Missouri State on Saturday, capping off a four-goal spurt in 29 minutes for the team to snap an eight-game losing streak.
Play of the WeekMiQuale Lewis, football: lining up for a two-point conversion in an attempt to take the lead with 42 seconds left in Saturday's football matchup against Toledo, Lewis, a senior tailback, executed a "Statue of Liberty" play to the left end to give the Cardinals a short-lived Homecoming lead.
Quote of the Week"They wanted that last goal more than we wanted the game. That's all there really is to it." - Ball State soccer coach Michael Lovett following the Cardinals 4-3 loss to Toledo on Sunday where the Rockets came back to score the game-winning goal with one second remaining after trailing 3-0 earlier in the match.
Fan choiceAli Bishel, cross country: with 25 votes and 41 percent of the poll, Bishel, a senior, won this year's sixth fan choice vote. Bishel finished a team-best third place in 17:44 in Friday's Notre Dame Invitational, where the Cardinals finished No. 13 overall as a team.
