After opening the Golfweek's Conference Challenge in eighth place, the women's golf team has slipped to 14th after the second day of competition.
"We played exceptionally well during the first day, and we found ourselves in a pretty good position, although today we could have played better," coach Katherine Mowat said about the team's recent standings in the tournament.
Five players played decently on Monday while only three were able to play today.
Brittany Kelly tied for 17th after placing a 75-75-150; she has become the top player on the team during the invitational. Kelly isn't the only player who is ranked: Rachael Pruett is tied for 35th, Kristtini Cain is tied for 63rd, Kirsty O'Connor is tied for 68th and Katie Windlan rounds out the group tying for 76th.
Ahead of Fresno State University, Portland State University and Southern Methodist University, Ball State University is currently tied with Jacksonville State University after managing to score 306 and 319, for a total of 626.
No. 4 Oklahoma State University, No. 14 Pepperdine University, No. 27 Ohio State University, No. 29 Georgia State University and the No. 30 University of California Irvine are a few of the nationally ranked teams playing alongside Ball State in the golf tournament.
"It's an incredible opportunity for us, just a really great feeling, to feel like we belong among these great teams," Mowat said.
