Two local restaurants participated in a fundraiser benefiting Share Our Strength, a foundation working to end childhood hunger. The fundraiser, called the "Great American Dine Out," started last Sunday and lasted through the week, ending Saturday.
Across the United States, more than 1,000 restaurants registered to take part in the fundraiser. In Muncie, both Scotty's Brewhouse and Buffalo Wild Wings signed up to help.
General manager Tim Jenyk said this is not the first year that Scotty's has participated in the fundraiser.
"It's gone on many years before," he said. "It means a lot to participate in something like this."
At Buffalo Wild Wings, with the purchase of every flatbread meal, 50 cents was donated to the foundation. Since the start of the fundraiser, store employees said they saw a definite upswing in flatbread sales.
Overall, representatives from both restaurants said they felt their contributions to the fundraiser this year were successful.
"Everything went great," Jenyk said. "A few tables said they came in specifically for the fundraiser."
