FOOTBALL: Motor City Bowl changed to Little Caesars Pizza Bowl

A declining auto industry has caused Detroit automakers to drop their sponsorship of the Motor City Bowl, as Little Caesars Pizza has officially taken over.

The former Motor City Bowl typically features the Mid-American Conference champions versus a bowl-eligible team from the Big Ten.

The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl will be played for the 13th straight year on Dec. 26 at 1 p.m. on Detroit's Ford Field - home of the National Football League's Detroit Lions.

Last season, Florida Atlantic University defeated Central Michigan University 24-21. 2008 MAC champion University at Buffalo - who defeated Ball State University in the championship game at Ford Field - opted to play in the International Bowl against the University of Connecticut. The Huskies defeated the Bulls 38-20.
