WOMEN'S TENNIS: Team earn academic honor for 11th consecutive year

The Ball State University women's tennis team has had a tradition for over a decade of maintaining a high grade point average. Last school year was no different for the team.

The Cardinals were named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-Academic Team for the 11th straight year and for the 12th time in the last 13 years.

To be considered for the award, teams must earn an average 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale. The Ball State team boasts a team average of 3.3.

"This has become an academic tradition for our team," coach Kathy Bull said in a press release. "It takes a very special and dedicated individual to balance all the challenges that the life of a Division I student-athlete goes through. I am very proud that our athletes have embraced that concept. They represent the quality education that Ball State offers to all of its students."

Two members of the team were also named to the ITA Scholar Athlete team. Junior Hayley Hall and sophomore Hanna Oman were named to the team by having a GPA higher than a 3.5.

The Cardinals' season begins Sept. 18 when they play host to the Ball State Fall Invitational.
