MEN'S GOLF: Former Cards' golfer Maurer makes top 5 at Indiana Open

Nine golfers with BSU ties finish above cut at Indiana Open

After shooting a round-low 66 in the third of four rounds, Ball State University men's golf alumnus Brian Maurer finished fifth at the Indiana Open Championship.

Maurer finished the Open with a 3-under-par, 69, to finish nine strokes behind winner Aaron Monson.

Maurer was one of nine golfers with Ball State ties to finish above the cut at the Open.

Ball State alumnus Jamie Broce finished the Open at 2-under-par, which was good enough for ninth place. Scott Steger, father of Ball State golfer Eric Steger, finished 13th, after finishing 1-over-par.

Ball State golfer Ross Cosat was the highest finishing current Ball State golfer with a 19th place showing. He was followed by his teammates Eric Steger and Eric Skillman, who finished at 3-over-par, which was good enough for a tie at 25th place.

Ball State golfer Andrew Rhodes finished at 14-over-par, which was good enough 53rd. Alumni Brian Sears and David Carich rounded out the placing for the golfers with Ball State connections by placing 59th and 70th.
