The Ball State University women's golf team is heading into its final tournament of the year, the Mid-American Conference Championship.
The tournament will be held in Nashport, Ohio, and will start today and end Sunday.
The format will be 18 holes today and Saturday with a 36-hole day to finish things up. Five golfers will compete for each team and the top four scores will be recorded, which is the format that has been used in most of the tournaments the Cardinals have participated in this spring.
Ball State enters the MAC Championship coming off a third place finish in West Lafayette, finishing ahead of host Purdue University. During the spring season, the Cardinals have finished in the top three in three out of their six tournaments. They also had a lot of experience against other MAC schools in those tournaments.
Ball State has gone up against six other MAC schools in competition this spring. Ball State has beat four of them: the University of Akron, Ohio University, Bowling Green State University and Western Michigan University twice. Ball State lost to the University of Toledo twice, Kent State University twice and Western Michigan once.
According to national rankings, Ball State is expected to finish third out of the 12-team conference. Eastern Michigan and Kent State are both ranked ahead of Ball State.
