Sorority's Turtle Tugs event to benefit camp for children with disabilities

Delta Zeta sorority members and other Ball State University students will play in green Jell-O to raise money for the Painted Turtle Camp today.

The sorority will hold its annual Turtle Tugs event at 1 p.m. on LaFollette Field, according to a press release. The event will have activities with green Jell-O, such as a pie eating contest, a tug-of-war, a messy obstacle course and a water balloon toss.

Delta Zeta member Olivia Tapley said the money raised from the event will support the Painted Turtle Camp, which welcomes children with all types of disabilities.

"It's the only one that covers all disabilities on the West Coast," Tapley said.

Turtle Tugs is $50 a team and $4 to watch, Tapley said. The sorority will also raffle off its suite furniture, a sectional couch and two chairs.

Tapley said door prizes will be provided by Noodles & Company, Damon's Grill and various tanning salons. Representatives from Rockstar Energy Drink and DJ Killa Cam will be present.
