Reception tonight to honor student who died

A reception and memorial honoring Garrison Ringenberg, a student who died in Clevenger Hall on Saturday, will take place outside Brayton and Clevenger Halls tonight, Hall Director Matt Bloomingdale said in a statement.

The reception will offer refreshments, a book for guests to sign or leave messages and a table for cards or flowers, the statement said.

Ringenberg was found dead in his residence hall room Saturday night. Coroner Jim Clevenger confirmed the cause of death as asphyxiation due to hanging, saying the death appeared to be suicide. The University Police Department does not suspect foul play, he said.

The reception will be from 9 to 10:30 p.m. outside the Brayton/Clevenger "fish bowl" entrance.
