No foul play suspected in student death

Delaware County coroner Jim Clevenger said the University Police Department and he have no reason to suspect foul play in the death of freshman Garrison Ringenberg.

"We're confident no one else was involved," he said. "No one broke into his room and harmed him. As sad as it is, it is what it appears to be and that's suicide by hanging."

Clevenger said Ringenberg's parents received a call Saturday from another Ball State University student concerned about their son's welfare. They called university police who responded and found Ringenberg in his room.

Clevenger said Ringenberg sent a text message at about 3 p.m. Saturday. Police responded at about 7:10 p.m., according to previous Daily News reports.
