Founder of epop.com comes to BSU

A leading innovator of the digital imaging industry and Ball State University alumnus will return to campus today to showcase some of his work.

Hans Kellogg, assistant professor of graphic arts, said Eric Poppleton, founder of epop.com, is well known for his creativity in his work with photography and his work on a project that created the world's largest high resolution image of Yosemite National Park. The image was about 17 gigabytes.

Kellogg said Poppleton has done most of his work with clients in the real estate, automotive and entertainment industries.

He wasn't sure what Poppleton would be presenting or talking about, Kellogg said, but he'll probably show some of the work he's done with his $30,000 high dynamic range camera.

He said Poppleton was innovative, creative and out on the edge with his level of technology, and it is an honor for students to be able to meet him.

"I'm just excited about having my students ... interact with him," he said.

Poppleton will be in the Art and Journalism Building, Rm. 175 at 10 a.m. and at the Kennedy Branch Library on McGalliard Road at 7 p.m.
