FOOTBALL: Draft concludes with two former Cardinals among picks

The 2009 NFL Draft finished with two Ball State University players and 10 Mid-American Conference players being selected.

The San Francisco 49ers selected former Ball State quarterback Nate Davis with the 35th pick of the fifth round, which was pick 171st overall in the Draft. The Dallas Cowboys took former Ball State offensive tackle Robert Brewster with the 11th pick of the third round, which was pick 75 overall.

The two Cardinals were the first Ball State players selected since the 2005 Draft.

Other former Ball State players, such as tight end Darius Hill and punter Chris Miller, were undrafted. The undrafted players are now free agents and can sign with any team they want.

Ball State and Western Michigan University each had two players selected in the Draft to lead the MAC. Northern Illinois University, Ohio University, Temple University, Eastern Michigan University, Kent State University and Miami University each had a player selected.
