The Dallas Cowboys selected former Ball State University offensive guard Robert Brewster in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
Brewster was selected with the 11th pick of the third round, which was pick 75 overall.
Brewster was the first Ball State player selected since the St. Louis Rams chose punter Reggie Hodges in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft.
He was the fifth Mid-American Conference player selected in this year's Draft. Northern Illinois University defensive end/outside linebacker Larry English went 16th overall to the San Diego Chargers; Western Michigan University defensive back Louis Delmas went 33rd overall to the Detroit Lions; Ohio University safety Michael Mitchell went 47th overall to the Oakland Raiders; and Temple University defensive tackle Terrance Knighton went 72nd overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars
This past season Brewster was on the watch lists for the Rotary Lombardi Trophy - which goes to college football's best offensive or defensive lineman - and the Outland Trophy - which goes to college football's best interior offensive or defensive lineman. As Ball State's right tackle, the First Team All-MAC selection was part of an offensive line that allowed one sack per game - which was best in the MAC and fourth best in the nation in 2008.
Brewster was the first Ball State player selected.
