Ball State University guard Porchia Green was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week on Monday.
The 5-foot-9-inch senior guard averaged 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists during last week's games against Eastern Michigan University, a 68-59 win, and Western Michigan University, a 80-61 win.
Green had a game high 18 points against Eastern Michigan and had a career high four blocks. She also had four rebounds, two steals and two assists in the win. Against Western Michigan, Green had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. She also dished out six assists and had a steal in 37 minutes of action in the win.
The victory against Western Michigan gave the Cardinals their 20th win of the season and a first-round bye in the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
Green averages 12.8 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game in conference play. She leads the team in assists and steals while playing MAC opponents.
This is the second week a Cardinal has won the Player of the Week award. Senior guard Kiley Jarrett won the award last week. Green has won the Player of the Week award three times this season.
Ball State will play Northern Illinois University for senior night 7 p.m. Wednesday in Worthen Arena. Green, Jarrett and guard/forward Dana Moorman are the Cardinals three seniors.
