A student filed a lawsuit against Ball State University after she slipped and injured herself on campus, her lawyer said Wednesday.
Brittany Manora's attorney, Tim Rowe, filed the lawsuit on her behalf March 3 in Delaware County Circuit Court 4, which Judge John Feick presides over, according to court documents.
Manora injured herself when she slipped and fell in snow and water outside the Art and Journalism Building in February 2008, Rowe wrote in the complaint. Manora has incurred medical expenses and may need future medical treatment because of lasting effects from the injury, Rowe wrote. He did not specify the nature of Manora's injuries.
The lawsuit alleges that Ball State was negligent in cleaning up the water and snow and in failing to provide warning signs.
Manora could not be reached for comment Wednesday evening.
Tony Proudfoot, Ball State's associate vice president for marketing and communications, would not comment on the lawsuit, but added: "The university does strive to provide a safe environment for all students and employees."
The university's attorneys have until April 22 to formally respond to the plaintiff's complaints.
