Sigma Gamma Rho and Kappa Delta sororities have teamed up to invite all men on campus to enjoy food, music and conversation.
Lauren Schneider, Kappa Delta vice president of public relations, said the women will have the third annual Men's Appreciation Dinner at 7 p.m. in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Music Room.
Sigma Gamma Rho started the event in the Spring of 2007 to improve camaraderie between the men and women at Ball State University, Schneider said. This year, the women of Sigma Gamma Rho asked Kappa Delta to co-sponsor the event.
The sorority hoped to develop friendships through the dinner, she said. The sororities also invited women to the dinner in order to create a more social atmosphere.
Schneider said the sororities will serve the men baked spaghetti, bread sticks and salad.
The dinner will last two hours and the food will be free, she said.
The Men's Appreciation Dinner falling on Tuesday of Women's Week is coincidental, Schneider said.
Sigma Gamma Rho secretary and historian Lindsey Arnold said her sorority enjoyed planning the event.
"We enjoy the fellowship and support we receive by holding the event," Arnold said.
The women in her sorority were excited to have Kappa Delta's support, she said.
Kappa Delta jumped at the chance to pair with another sorority, Schneider said.
"I think by appreciating men, we will also build a bond with these fun, charitable women," Schneider said.
