SOFTBALL: Cardinals withstand scare from Jaguars

Despite allowing two home runs, the Ball State University softball team beat the IUPUI Jaguars 5-4 on Wednesday at the Ball State Softball Complex.

The Cardinals scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead.

Elizabeth Milian picked up the win for the Cardinals after entering in the sixth inning to relieve Laura Masch. Milian throw about 25 pitches in more than an inning of work after throwing a complete game Tuesday against the University of Notre Dame.

Coach Craig Nicholson said he does not mind pitching Milian in relief after a start because it is mot more pitches than she would throw in practice.

The Cardinals are next in action Friday when they open the Mid-American Conference season at Central Michigan University.
