Ball State University soccer coach Michael Lovett announced the signing of eight recruits to national letters of intent Wednesday for the 2009 season.
The Cardinals signed midfielder Alyssa Ables from Huntertown; defender/midfielder Maggie Brown from West Chester, Ohio; defender Coco Cammon from New Hope, Minn.; defender Skylar Chew from Mason, Ohio; midfielder/defender Amanda Dreyfus from Grove City, Ohio; defender/midfielder Brigit Reder from West Chester, Ohio; forward Paige Stroinski from Granger and goalkeeper Nicole Wood from Strongsville, Ohio.
"This is a very deep and talented recruiting class," Lovett said in a press release. "We went after specific needs and I think we fulfilled them. These players will make an impact on our program for the next four years and we are excited to begin working with them."
Ball State lost seven seniors - all of whom were starters - from the 2008 team. The Cardinals lost their starting goalkeeper, three defenders, two midfielders and a forward.
Last year Ball State finished 9-10-1 in Lovett's first season as the head coach. Ball State lost in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament to Central Michigan University 1-0.
Ball State begins its spring season April 4 in Fort Wayne against Western Michigan University.
