The Mid-American Conference representative in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament was eliminated tonight.
The 13th-seeded University of Akron lost to the fifth-seeded Gonzaga University 77-64 in the first round of the tournament. Akron - the MAC Champion - was the lone team representing the MAC in the NCAA Tournament.
With Akron's loss, the MAC went 0-4 in national postseason tournaments this season.
Kent State University lost 80-74 to Oakland University on Tuesday in the first round of the inaugural CollegeInsider.com Post-Season Tournament. Bowling Green State University lost 73-71 to Creighton University on Wednesday in the first round of the NIT. The University at Buffalo lost 84-73 to Wichita State University on Wednesday in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational.
Although the MAC does not have any men's basketball teams remaining in post-season tournaments, two women's basketball teams are stilling representing the conference.
Ball State University will play the University of Tennessee on Sunday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Bowling Green will play either Canisius College or Syracuse University after it received a first round bye in the WNIT.
