BASEBALL: Outfielder named MAC Player of the Week

Another Ball State University baseball player was named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Junior left fielder Kory Benbow was the third Cardinal to earn the award to start the season.

Benbow hit .600 in Ball State's four-game series against the University of Missouri. He had a 1.133 slugging percentage and a series-high nine hits while driving in four runs. In the Cardinals lone victory, Benbow went 5-for-5 with a walk, a home run, three RBIs and two runs.

The weekend raised Benbow's batting average to .359.

Freshman first baseman Ian Nielsen received the first Player of the Week award and junior center fielder Jeremy Hazelbaker picked up the second.
