WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: McDonald, Maggert lead Cards to victory against Kent State

The Ball State University women's basketball team started its game Wednesday with a strong energy and outshone the Kent State University Golden Flashes, but the player that shined the brightest was Audrey McDonald.

Not only was she the featured player of the game but also the leading scorer for the Cardinals with 22 points.

McDonald exhibited why she was ranked No. 15 among the NCAA for 3-point field goals per game - she made six 3-point shots during the game.

"I feel really confident playing at home. I'm going to let it fly and have a little bit of light," McDonald said.

Another leading player of Wednesday's game was Emily Maggert, who posted 18 points.

With the performances of McDonald and Maggert, the Cardinals maintained their lead in the Mid-American Conference West Division by beating Kent State 77-70. The Cardinals are gearing up for their next conference home game against Ohio University.

"The 'W' is always something we strive for," coach Kelly Packard said.
