More than 10 Ball State University students have applied to be the new student trustee, Ebony Strong, student government association secretary, said.
The deadline to apply for the position was Feb. 13. Student trustees are appointed by Gov. Mitch Daniels, after going through a selection committee at Ball State.
Daniels likes to see at least 10 applications every time the position is open, Strong said.
"The more selection, the better pool of applications," Strong said.
The student trustee position is made to represent state money and student tuition dollars on Ball State's board of trustees. It is the only state-mandated student position on campus.
Strong, who is also on the selection committee, said she will begin to review the applications today. The committee will conduct interviews March 4-5. The week of March 16 the top three candidates are turned in to the governor's office and the candidates wait to be approved.
