FOOTBALL: Collins wants to add exclusive club

As the Ball State University football team added 22 new players Wednesday, athletics director Tom Collins looked to add more supporters for the team.

Collins announced the formation of the "Touchdown Club" at the Cardinals' National Signing Day Celebration Wednesday at the Alumni Center. The group was designed to support Ball State's football team and provide extra funds for it.

Collins said he is looking for "50 exclusive members" to pledge $2,000 a year for the next three years. The additional resources will be reinvested into the football program and will be used at the recommendation of the team's head coach.

The Cardinals finished the 2008 regular season undefeated before losing the Mid-American Conference Championship Game to the University at Buffalo and the GMAC Bowl to the University of Tulsa.
